Online Music Recognition And Searching
A Distributed Research Environment for Music Informatics and Computational Musicology
OMRAS2 will develop a virtual research environment that is investigating new methods for navigating through large collections of music. The tools developed in this research environment will be used for music search and navigation by different user communities:

OMRAS2 Research Workshops
Goldsmiths Digital Studios is hosting a series of intensive research workshops covering a range of topics, tools, data sets and Use Cases for the ORMAS2 project. These workshops ran from April 2007 - July 2007 and started again in October 2007 and will continue indefinately for the duration of the project.
OMRAS2 Objectives
- To perform research on, and provide a distributed, extensible, tailorable interactive research environment offering tools and services to the Music Informatics and related research communities (WP1, WP2)
- To perform research in algorithms and representations for Music Informatics systems focusing on i) distributed temporal data bases, ii) Grid-based indexing and searching of music, iii) knowledge representations of music, iv) large-collection user interfaces, efficient distributed high-dimensional nearest neighbour searching, vi) automatic harmonic structure analysis, vii) automatic alignment of legacy metadata with audio. [ i)-iii) in WP1; iv)-vi) in WP2; vii) in WP4]
- To propose and research a Web Services model for collaborative Music Informatics problem solving by collaborating with several partners (WP3) and provide models for future, commercial, Semantic Music Web Services
- To propose and investigate the audio editing, and other metaphors, as a unifying front-end for deploying resources (WP1, WP4).
- To perform research on the value of subjective evaluation of Music Informatics systems, (WP4).
- To develop and publish best practice in providing resources for OMRAS2 and provide annotated test sets (WP1, WP4).

Where's OMRAS 1?
| OMRAS2 arose out of the original OMRAS (Online Music Recognition and Searching), an international project funded by the JISC (UK) and the NSF (US) from 1999 to 2003. Visit the original OMRAS web-site. |
